We started collecting these when they showed up in our local Kmart store here in Australia (June 2013). They're so cute and fuzzy :) Definitely nice to have some difference faces in with the Sylvanians :)
Li'l Woodzeez's Review
We got a bunch :) Rabbit, Turtle, Beaver, Squirrel and Owl Families. We grabbed 2 Room Sets aswell. Would love to get the Raccoons, Hedgehogs aswell!
The Figures: They're not flocked as well as Sylvanians, only noticed this when I was cutting away the plastic that's holding them into the packaging, it accidentally scrapped hard past the beavers face, and pushed a lil flocking off :S It's only tiny and down near his neck, but never done that with Sylvanians so far. They're fine tho if you're not scraping them with plastic hehe.
They're heads aren't soft, didn't squish when I pushed on them :) Glad to see they won't get too hurt being held onto.
The clothes could have been finished off a little better too. (But that is comparing these to Sylvanian clothes which are quite well made). They're still nice, it was mainly the men's shirt collars that I saw the edges fraying.
Because they're 70% outside the packaging, not enclosed like Sylvanians, we had to stand and pick a good family, as some had noses that were not quite finished or sometimes lil marks where they had been unpacked/shoved around inside a box. Just be careful when you start unpacking them, as they're quite tightly packed in the plastic stuff around them. Cut carefully around their faces as you need to cut both sides on the shoulder area to get it to release. Also at the back of the neck, they connected the plastic holds with one of those 'hold-tags-on-clothes' things.
Furniture: The couches were made of rubberish rubber ducky type stuff :o Didn't expect that! Its still tough so won't sag, hardly noticeable. The accessories are really cute :) Some items (like a bag of flour or a cookbook) could have had their indented designs painted white or whatever it needed to stand out. The bedding was nice on the beds too, glad they weren't just moulded plastic.
Extras: I love the little book that comes with the families! Quite nicely made, not just printed out and wacked inside. It's softback, but done nicely like a cute little book. The accessories are cute too, lil tea towels and spoons. The bedding was actual cloth aswell, and lots of cute toys to play with for the children figures.
Overall: They are a wonderful little selection of families! They're about 1/2 the price of Sylvanians, so if you wanted to get some to start with or see how they go, have a look at these :) Just be careful with getting them out of the plastic! And maybe don't put the hats on. I tried, looked ok, but when I went to take it off it took some flocking off the Father Rabbit's ear :(
